A signing ceremony for the Volkswagen Education Foundation, an education fund founded by Volkswagen Group China and Shanghai Volkswagen was held at the Tongji University on June 20, 2007.

　The foundation ceremony was attended by Dr.Horst Meumann, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG with responsibility for Human Resources, Bernd Osterioh, Chairman of the Group Works Council, Dr.Zhang Suixin, Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group China, Chen Zhixin, Managing Director of Shanghai Volkswagen, Zhang Hailiang, Personnel and Administrative Executive Director of SVW, Prof.Zhou Jialun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University and Prof.Chen Xiaolong, Vice Chancellor of Tongji University.

　　On June 19, the day before the ceremony, a group of 20 people, including Dr.Horst Meumann and Bernd Osterioh visited Shanghai Volkswagen and inspected the company's product development operations, technical facilities, sales performance, human resources and talent cultivation ability.

　The Volkswagen Education Foundation, jointly run by Volkswagen Group China and Shanghai Volkswagen, will offer two million RMB until 2010 to support financially underprivileged first-year, fourth or fifth-year students at the Tongji University. Volkswagen Group China and Shanghai Volkswagen will also contribute further funds to support additional students in future.

　　Volkswagen has established a long-term partnership with Tongji University in many areas. As early as June 2000, the Tongji-VW Automobile College was jointly founded. In order to conduct academic research and provide professional training.Tongji University receives support from the Volkswagen Group to improve its research programs and to support the training of professionals and academics.
