THE 12th Shanghai International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2007) held a grandiose opening at theShanghai New International Expo Centre on April 20. SVW presented a complete product lineup, showcasing its two car brands, VW and Skoda.
On the opening day of the show, SVW announced the introduction of the CrossPolo, the latest fruit of VW's Cross design initiative. Detailed specifications of SVW's Skoda Octavia (Mingrui) were also revealed at the show and the car was available for ordering.
Two brands displayed head-on-head
SVW displayed its complete product lineup in Hall E1and W2, including the Octavia (Mingrui), PASSAT LINGYU, Touran, POLO Jingqing and Jinqu, marking the first time that SVW showed off its two brands since the start of the company's multi-brand strategy.
In VW-Groups?huge 6,272-square-meter exhibition stand in Hall W2, along with Volkswagen AG and FAW Volkswagen, SVW presented an automobile jubilee integrating the concepts of "Green", "Science and Technology" and "Olympics" with a breathtaking product lineup.
Hoping to provide people with a unique and fresh experience of cars by blending the enjoyment of automobile life with inspiring Olympic elements, SVW highlighted the theme of "Enjoying Life and Embracing the Olympics." SVW products on display in Hall W2 included the POLO Jinqing 1.4L AT Style version, POLO Jinqu 1.6L AT Premium version, PASSAT LINGYU 2.8V6 AT Flagship version, PASSAT Lingyu 1.8T AT Luxury version, and the TOURAN 1.8T 7-seater AT Luxury version, plus the eye-catching CrossPolo, which will be produced by SVW in the near future.
Next to the VW exhbition, the Skoda stand was highlighted by a super luxurious car fleet, including their old Voiturette, the Superb TDF and the Octavia series. In addition, a sectional model of the Skoda Octavia (Mingrui) 1.8TSI version impressed visitors with it's display of leading car-making technology.
Olympic theme highlighted
SVW placed a lot of attention on the Olympic versions of the POLO Jinqing, Jinqu, and TOURAN to better illustrate the three core concepts of "Green", "Science and Technology" and "Olympics" and further embody the theme of "Enjoying Life and Embracing the Olympics." The cars were elaborately detailed with body stickers and decorated by designers from VW AG, with the sporty flavoring and style of the Olympic Games.
CrossPolo soon to be produced by SVW
The CrossPolo, which was brought to the auto show from the VW headquarters in Germany for display at the Shanghai auto was a show highlight for SVW. The CrossPolo will soon be manufactured by SVW and launched into the Chinese market. "Cross" is a brand-new design concept produced by Volkswagen AG. It integrates the features of several VW models leading to the development of new cars that can offer more driving pleasure. As an exquisite blend of the best of several cars, CrossPolo melds the various advantages of off-road vehicles, sports cars and station wagons as well as modernity into a single vehicle with an outstanding overall design.
Octavia (Mingrui) stands ready for ordering
On the first day of the auto show, SVW's Managing Director Chen Zhixin, announced that the Octavia (Mingrui) is ready for order. The first models available for customers are the 1.8T and 2.0L series, which come fitted with many upgrades making them superior to cars of the same market category.
