SVW produces 3.5 millionth car --a milestone and a new beginning

ACCORDING to figures released recently, SVW's total output reached 3.5 million cars by January 16, 2007. The 3.5 millionth car produced was the first unit of a Skoda Octavia (Mingrui), soon to be launched on the the market.

As the first Skoda model localized by SVW, the Octavia (Mingrui) car has drawn significant public attention since its debut at Auto China last year. The production of the 3.5 millionth unit, timed in sync with the launch of the first Octavia model, marks a brand-new start for SVW as well as the Skoda brand.

SVW began its multi-brand strategy by formally introducing the Skoda brand as early as 2005. Skoda, a European auto brand with a century old history, is known for its fine workmanship, classic design and driving pleasure. "Backed by 20 years of accumulated experience, an effective workforce plus a comprehensive marketing and service network, SVW will make a valuable contribution to the localization of the Skoda brand in China," noted Skoda staff.

To celebrate the production milestone and also the production of the first Octavia model, SVW held a short ceremony at CPIII, which was attended by company directors, the Skoda Business team and SVW employees. Managing Director Chen gave an address to all the attendees in which he applauded this historical achievement and called on all the company members to forge ahead with higher spirits.

In an effort to secure satisfactory market share for both the VW and Skoda brands, SVW has mapped a clearly focused future plan. On the one hand, the company will continue revamping its marketing, service and manufacturing operations; on the other hand, it will put its multi-brand strategy into full swing by vigorously promoting the Skoda brand.

At this time, a clear vision and product blueprint outlining future planning have already taken shape, and long-term plans are in place to guide the development of advanced automotive and environmental technology and new car development.
