ON press day at the recently concluded Auto China 2006 in Beijing, OCTAVIA, the first Skoda car model to be produced by SVW, was given an official Chinese name -- Mingrui (bright and energetic).

　　Mr. Chen Zhixin, Managing Director of SVW, explained in detail the meaning behind the new name. The character "Ming" represents wisdom and understanding, indicating versatility and the potential of genuine talents.The character "Rui" depicts the strength stirred up from the dual V-shaped front-end, which harbours the latest TFSI turbo-charged engine.

　　As one of the most successful auto brands of the VW Group, the Skoda brand not only inherits modern manufacturing techniques from VW AG, but also cherishes a brand culture of its own. Mingrui is a good example of the continuation and augmentation of a hundred-year-long tradition.

　　Based on VW's latest PQ35 platform and furnished with the new TFSI engine, the multipurpose Mingrui features high-tech roomy space and exhibits the brand essence of wisdom, charm and dedication.

　　With the introduction of the Octavia/Mingrui to China, SVW will keep improving the model according to local market requirements so as to provide a better driving experience for Chinese customers.
