Skoda brand officially launched in China

ON September 22, SVW held an official launch ceremony for the Skoda brand. Executives from VW AG China (VGC), SAIC Motor, Skoda Auto and SVW, together with representatives from 68 Skoda dealers, were on hand to witness the special occasion.

  At the ceremony, one SVW Skoda executive expressed the view that the SVW Skoda brand will stay true to its original brand identity, at the same time Skoda branding will take into consideration the Chinese market. In keeping with the different requirements of Chinese consumers, Skoda will endow the brand with more Chinese characteristics, ensuring the integrity and attractiveness of the brand.

 

  SVW Managing Director Chen Zhixin noted that the the Skoda brand is characterized by a blend of intelligence and quality that has been loyally pursued for more than a hundred years. Aside from that, Skoda has also attached great importance to design, space allocation and functionality, to satisfy customer requirments. It is well recognized as a brand made for intelligent consumers looking for quality and efficiency in their lives, and also for people pursuing a balance between modernity and tradition.

  In an explanation of the long term strategy of the Skoda brand, Ye Yongming, Sales and Marketing Executive Director of SVW, commented that, "Within two to three years, SVW will form an integrated product lineup for the Skoda brand consisting of three main products and will lay out a service network that is in accordance with both international standards and local requirments." It was made known recently that the first car model being positioned in the mid-to high-end class will be launched on the market early next year.

 

  The introduction of the Skoda brand marks an important step forward for SVW's multi-brand strategy. In a recent media interview, a VGC official expressed that, "SVW's development of the Skoda brand is a part of VGC's China strategy and a key element in its sponsorship of the Olympic program. VGC will continue to create the best conditions for the brand to develop in China."

  With the the Skoda project in China officially underway, SVW's multi-brand strategy is gradually taking shape.
