As an outstanding carmaker in auto industry, SVW is recognized by the whole society for it success. The Company won various honors when rewarding the society continuously.
SVW topped the list of 500 largest foreign invested enterprises in China for eight years consecutively, and was awarded the honor title of “Top Ten Joint Ventures in China” for eight years consecutively. For nine consecutive years it was awarded “National Cost-effective Enterprise”. In addition, it is the only enterprise in auto industry winning 2001 National Quality Management Award granted by China Quality Management Association. The National Quality Management Award is designated for enterprises with excellent quality and economic performance by the state authorities.

In 2002, Fortune magazine (Chinese edition) published the result of the third poll of “the Most Appreciated Foreign Invested Enterprises in China”, and SVW won the first prize again. Motorola (Tianjin) Corporation and Haier Air-conditioning Electronics Co., Ltd. ranked second and third respectively. Detailed result and ranking of the poll was published on Fortune magazine (Chinese edition) in June. In 1999, SVW was awarded the honor during “Fortune” magazine’s first poll of “the Most Appreciated Foreign Invested Enterprises in China”.

Some honors won by SVW this year are as follows:

On January 16th, 2002, PASSAT car won the award of “Most Favored Colorful Family Sedan by Shanghai Citizens” again, and Santana won the award of “Most Appreciated Practical Sedan by Shanghai Citizens”.

On January 18th, 2002, SVW was awarded the honor title of distinguished enterprises in industry improvement in Shanghai. SVW won the honor title of the best manufacturer in Shanghai (the fourth session, Year 2000-2001).

In February 2002, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd. was awarded as one of the ten best enterprises in foreign trade in Shanghai.

On June 20th, 2002, POLO was chosen as “the Car Fit Me Most” by the public in the seventh Beijing International Auto Industry Exhibition.

In June 2002, Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau awarded SVW as the distinguished unit in environmental protection during year 2000-2001.

On June 15th, 2002, China Consumer Protection Foundation awarded Santana, Santana 2000, PASSAT and POLO with the title of reputable brand in protecting rights and interests of consumers.

On August 15th, 2002, POLO car won 2002 Red-dot International Design Award.
