GOL is equipped with four EA827 1.6L in-line engines, EFI, and overhead camshaft. The car inherits the excellent power performance of Santana with a maximum power of 64KW/5200r/min. At a low speed of 3000r/min, the engine has a peak output of 128N.M. Moreover, the quick start acceleration takes only 13.2s to reach 100km/h. The clutch of excellent operation performance and 013 manual five-speed gearbox offer more relaxed and pleasant driving.

The front axle of the chassis is of MacPherson suspension and the rear axle is of fore-and-aft cross arm torsion bar beam. Hydraulic power-assisted steering is adopted for the steering system (except the entry version) for simple, flexible and safe steering. The braking system adopts front disk brake and rear drum brake as well as 8-inch braking assistor for excellent matching.

The covering parts of the body are made of imported metal sheets of high quality. Automation technology and equipment are adopted for the manufacturing processes where possible. New imported four-support-point method is used on the production line. Welding clamps and welding equipment are used with new high technologies for greater rigidity and strength, narrower gaps between body parts and higher quality of bodywork.
