Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Fleet was set up in 2000 when auto racing
became a common  practice
in China. It was jointly established by Shanghai Volkswagen Auto Sales
Co., Ltd., which is entitled to name the fleet through sponsor, and
Shanghai Sai Sai Sai Auto Club. With strong supports from Shanghai
Volkswagen and through continuous efforts, it strives to adopt the
international practice in terms of fleet management, image building
and operation. It demonstrated an aggressive manner since its very
beginning and has created many records in the history of auto sports
in China:
1 The first fleet composed of Santana cars alone for rally;
2 The first fleet that gets prizes in all games at the four stations
throughout the year;
3 The first fleet that takes the top 3 prizes in big-displacement
group (Yunnan Station in 2001);
4 The first fleet composed of the same brand cars and takes all
prizes in one game;
5 The first fleet composed of local cars (Santana) defeats overseas
professional fleets;
6 The first fleet that sends 11 cars to participate in one station
of a domestic game (Shanghai Station in 2002);
7 The first fleet that wins the general championship in the year
when it is established.
In 2001, the fleet had remarkable performance. The fleet won the
annual general championship of China Auto Sports Federation Cup;
annual total scores of contracted racers ranked No.1, 2, 4 and 5
in 2L Group. It also won the general championship of Manufacturer
Cup for Shanghai Volkswagen. At the Shanghai Station of National
Auto Rally Tournament in 2002 that has just ended, Shanghai Volkswagen
333 Fleet showed outstanding performance, winning the Federation
Cup, Manufacturer Cup and Super 1600cc Cup again and taking all
top 3 prizes of Group S3. It consolidates its leading position in
the racing world in China by its own efforts.
Led by two senior racing car service professionals from German
Volkswagen and three local senior technicians from Shanghai Volkswagen,
tens of professional racing car service technicians undertake maintenance
of the fleet. They guarantee the first-class performance of the
fleet.
It is a growing fleet, a pioneer for Shanghai to enter the auto
racing world, and a strong force representing auto sports in China.
